1. Purpose of This Document
This document sets out the identity verification requirements that apply to all account holders using the Genting Casino Bolton service. It explains the legal basis for these checks, what information and documentation is collected, when verification must be completed, and the consequences of non-completion. This document is not a promotional or product description. It is a formal statement of verification obligations and account holder obligations.
2. Legal and Regulatory Basis
Genting Casino Bolton operates in accordance with the requirements of the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). Under Licence Condition 17.1.1 of the UKGC Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), all remote gambling operators licensed in Great Britain are required to obtain and verify specific personal information from each customer before that customer is permitted to gamble.
Identity verification requirements also apply under The Money Laundering Regulations 2017, which govern anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing obligations for regulated businesses, including licensed gambling operators.
These are not discretionary policies. Compliance with both the LCCP and The Money Laundering Regulations 2017 is a condition of the operating licence.
3. When Verification Is Required
Identity verification must be completed before any real-money gambling is permitted on an account. This requirement applies to all new accounts and, where required by updated regulatory guidance, to existing accounts.
Verification must also be completed in full before any withdrawal of funds from an account is processed. Funds cannot be released until all required checks have been satisfied.
There is no grace period during which gambling is permitted while verification remains outstanding. Under current UKGC requirements, checks on name, address and date of birth must be completed before any real-money activity takes place.
4. Information Required for Verification
At a minimum, the following information must be obtained and verified for every account holder:
- Full legal name
- Residential address
- Date of birth
This minimum standard is set by UKGC Licence Condition 17.1.1. Depending on account activity, transaction patterns or risk profile, additional information may be requested under AML obligations. This may include verification of the source of funds or enhanced due diligence documentation.
5. Acceptable Documents
5.1 Proof of Identity
A valid, government-issued photo identity document must be provided. Accepted documents include:
- Valid UK passport (biographical data page)
- Valid UK driving licence (full or provisional)
- National identity card (where applicable)
- Biometric residence permit
- Electoral identity document
- Proof of age card (such as a PASS-accredited card or Citizencard)
All identity documents must be current and unexpired at the time of submission. The document must clearly show a photograph, full name and date of birth. All four corners of the document must be visible in any image submitted, and all text must be legible. The name on the identity document must match the name registered on the account exactly.
5.2 Proof of Address
A recent document confirming the residential address must be provided. Accepted documents include:
- Utility bill (gas, electricity, water or landline telephone)
- Bank or building society statement
- Council tax bill
- Official government correspondence
Address documents must be dated within the last three months and must show the account holder’s full name and current residential address. PO box addresses are not accepted as proof of residential address.
5.3 Payment Method Verification
Where required by the AML risk assessment, verification of the payment method used to fund the account may be requested. This may include a copy of the front and back of the bank card used, or a recent statement from the account from which funds were transferred. Specific requirements will be communicated at the time of the request.
6. Electronic Verification
Where possible, electronic identity verification tools are used to confirm details against third-party data sources. This process checks name, date of birth and address against available records. If electronic verification is successful, submission of physical documents may not be required. If electronic verification cannot confirm the details, documents as described in Section 5 will be requested.
The standard applied to electronic verification is consistent with government guidance on digital identity checks under The Money Laundering Regulations 2017. This requires at minimum one match on full name, date of birth and current address, and a second match on full name combined with either current address or date of birth.
7. Purpose of Identity Checks
Identity verification at Genting Casino Bolton serves the following regulatory purposes:
- Confirming that the account holder is aged 18 or over, as required by law
- Confirming that the account holder is not registered on a self-exclusion scheme that would prevent gambling
- Confirming that the person using the account is the person named on the account
- Supporting obligations to prevent money laundering and the financing of criminal activity
These checks are not conducted for commercial purposes. They are a legal requirement under the operating licence and applicable UK legislation.
8. Consequences of Non-Completion
If identity verification is not completed within the timeframe communicated, the account will be restricted. Restrictions may include suspension of gambling access and the withholding of withdrawal requests until verification is complete.
If verification cannot be completed due to inconsistencies in the information or documents provided, the company reserves the right to close the account in accordance with the terms and conditions and applicable regulatory obligations. Any funds held in the account at the time of closure will be handled in accordance with UKGC requirements.
9. Data Handling
Personal information and documents submitted for identity verification purposes are processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Documents are retained only for as long as required by law or regulatory obligation.
Identity verification documents are not used for marketing purposes. Access to submitted documents is restricted to authorised personnel and, where required, to regulatory authorities.
10. Contact and Queries
For questions about verification status or the documents required, account holders should contact the customer support team using the channels listed on the Contact page. Original identity documents should not be sent by post unless specifically instructed to do so by the customer support team.
